Course Description
The course examines the new offshoot in Metz, France, of the world famous Paris museum, the building whose contemporary architecture and unconventional materials paved the way for much experimental work using new structural systems and finishes to create innovative showcases for works of art. A complete overview of the Metz project will be provided and the technologies and materials discussed. Course material includes an explanatory text, many photographs, a series of technical drawings, and a construction-detail of the envelope and construction system with accompanying legends. On completing the course, you will have an exhaustive overview of the project and be able to describe the high-performance technologies and materials used in relation to the innovative spatial distribution proposed by the architectural design.
