Course Description
The course looks at a reconversion project reinstating a traditional architecture in a contemporary key. A key feature is the juxtaposition of old and new: masonry work flanked by high-performance modern material. The result is a new entity in style and function that nonetheless preserves architectural heritage. Course material includes an introductory text, many pictures, and construction-detail drawings with legends. On completing the course, you will be able to discuss the importance of place and local materials for renovation and reconversion, with particular reference to the way brickwork may be associated with other materials.

  4. Explain the reasons behind the materials and color palette chosen for the building.
