Course Description
The course examines an urban regeneration project in Culver City, Los Angeles in an area today known as Conjunctive Points. Started in 1986, the revitalization program marks the longstanding collaboration between a developer and architect Eric Owen Moss and highlights how architecture can drive the economic revival of a rundown neighborhood using expressive design and materials to put obsolete buildings to new uses. Course material includes an explanatory text, photographs, sketches and architectural drawings. On completing the course, you will have a clear idea of how the regeneration project got started and has developed, be able to describe the overall scheme and the individual projects, what they have in common and the features that set them apart.

Learning Objectives – after reading the article and studying the drawings, you will be able to:

1. Analyze how Eric Owen Moss has tackled the complex Conjunctive Points regeneration project.
2. Describe the new architectural forms and materials applied to the existing buildings.
