Course DescriptionThe course looks at a striking contemporary house set in a completely untouched natural landscape. The building’s essential geometries and high-performance state-of-the-art materials make for a singular building that nonetheless blends with its surrounds. Course material includes an introductory text, many pictures, and technical and construction-detail drawings with legends. On completing the course, you will be able to discuss the extent to which the materials used are instrumental to the way an architecture blends into its setting, and how concrete can be combined with other materials.

Learning Objectives – after reading the article and studying the drawings, you will be able to:
- Describe how the house fits into its natural setting, with particular focus on how it conforms to the lay of the land and analyze how the relationship between interior and exterior has been articulated with the use of different materials.
- Analyze whether the project includes new functions not contemplated by conventional houses and how these have been designed into the building.
- Discuss how the project has successfully combined the opposing needs for privacy and openness.
- Describe spatial distribution and function strategies that make this house stand apart from more traditional homes and how these new aspects have been concretely implemented
