Course DescriptionThe course presents an urban regeneration project in the northern Italian town of Pordenone. Architecture and urban landscape interweave as the component parts - natural greenery, a small lake and historic buildings – alternate and intermingle. Course material includes an introductory text, pictures, numerous technical drawings and a construction detail with explanatory legends. You will be given an exhaustive overview of the project as a whole and how it fits into its urban setting thanks to materials and technologies that combine tradition and modernity.

Learning Objectives – after reading the article and studying the drawings, you will be able to:
- Analyze the way in which the project has been fitted into its urban context to return a park to the community and create a new piece of the town.
- Assess the policies adopted by the architects to fuse urban and natural landscapes.
- Identify the way public and private spaces have been made to interact.
- Analyze the materials chosen as a function of the available spaces and buildings.
