Course Description
The course compares the architectures of two Rome museums that express a completely new take on the contemporary art experience.
Course material includes an introductory text, pictures, and numerous technical and construction-detail drawings with legends. Together they provide an exhaustive overview of the projects and the cutting-edge technologies and materials employed, and allow investigation of the ways in which the two museums offer their public an innovative contemporary-art experience.

Learning Objectives – after reading the article and studying the drawings, you will be able to:

  1. Analyze the materials used for the structural frame and interior and exterior finishes and the extent to
    which these are appropriate to each museum’s setting.
  2. Analyze the innovative design of forms and circulation routes as a function of the museum project.
  3. Describe how natural light has been used to greatest effect in environments designed to display works of art.
  4. Identify the innovative technologies employed to create a new museum concept.
