Course Description
The course examines two exemplars of the contemporary home, one in an historical urban setting, the other in a natural landscape. On completing the course, you will be able to identify how each building achieves a continuum between interior and exterior, how new contemporary-living functions are delivered, and how the use of state-of-the-art technology has enhanced the livability of both programs.

Course material includes an introductory text, many pictures, and technical and construction-detail drawings with legends.

  2. List the new functions and spaces that make both buildings contemporary-living units in contrast to more conventional houses.
  3. Describe how each building fits into its particular setting with particular attention to the historical features of their surrounds.
