Course DescriptionThe course looks at an architectural project in Ahmedabad, India that seeks to fuse tradition and modernity, fit seamlessly into its local setting and accommodate the particular climatic conditions. Course material includes an explanatory text, many pictures, a series of technical drawings, sketches, and two construction-detail drawings. Together these provide a clear overview of the project and detailed information on the technologies and materials used. On completing the course, you will be able to describe the distinguishing features of the house and the technologies adopted to support contemporary living requirements.
Learning Objectives – after reading the article and studying the drawings, you will be able to:
- Describe the distinguishing features of Radhika Villa that combine occupant comfort and energy saving benefits to produce a technically efficient, esthetically pleasing result.
- Analyze the materials used for the frame, sun-screening and finishes of Radhika Villa, again with a view to how occupant comfort, functional excellence and energy-savings can be combined.
