Course Description

The course describes an “urban architecture” project on the outskirts of the town of Treviso in north east Italy. The new neighborhood revisits a traditional, close-knit urban fabric to deliver sustainable, energy-efficient buildings. As well as a general overview of the project, the course provides a detailed description of the technologies and materials used. Special focus is given to the sustainable design and construction strategies that went into the creation of this new neighborhood.

The course comprises an explanatory text, photographs, technical building and construction detail drawings of the envelope, single building structural frames, and a site plan showing how the single dwelling units blend into a composite whole. On completing the course, you will be able to explain how the sustainability principles applied to this contemporary architecture project also promote occupant comfort, and to apply this knowledge to your own projects.
